He definitely makes some bold statements in the posting, although it could be a little easier to read – what’s with the CAPS.

Kanye himself apparently has been feeling pretty shitty about the whole ordeal and has been apologizing furiously. First, there was an ALL-CAPS apology on his blog which was later removed and replaced with a more coherent apology. Then Kanye also apologized to Swift on the Jay-Leno show.

Clearly, Kanye knows that he bit off more than he can chew here and has been trying to salvage whatever he can from this PR disaster. I personally doubt how much of the apologies Kanye has been peddling around are real and how many are just at the behest of his PR team.

I think this guy ought to retire from music for a little while if only to get some perspective. You’re talented, Mr. West, but you ain’t no Beethoven. Heck, you ain’t even no John Lennon or Paul McCartney. Or Tupac or even Eminem. There are a lot other, more talented people in music than you right now. Just ask the guys over at Black Eyed Peas whose every album sells more copies than all yours combined.

I like the video, the song not too much. It’s weak lyrically and the chorus seems tired and repetitive. The video though, is pretty nice and atmospheric. I’m pretty sure this one will top the charts. It doesn’t really deserve to, however.

After the kind of success Asher Roth has had since the launch of his debut album, Asleep in the Bread Aisle – which is one of my favorite hip hop albums of this year – you can expect a massive influx of college educated white rappers in the scene.

And I’ll bet you my last dollar that most of them will meet with some measurable amount of success.

Simply put, the kind of values, the lyrics rappers like Asher Roth write about is something the majority of America (and much of the music buying public around the world) can associate and identify with.

I went to college. The lyrical content in songs like I Love College appeals to me. It’s nostalgic; I remember the parties I had in college when what Asher Roth sings – never pass out with just your shoes on, don’t have sex if she’s too gone, and when it comes to condoms, put two on -  were actual values.

Does it make me any bit less of a hip hop fan?

No. The stereotpye that hip hop has to be “badass” or from the streets to be good has to be erased from the public consciousness. Just because a talented MC isn’t from the hood doesn’t belittle his talent or skill. Kanye showed us so; the hottest rapper right now has a certain fixation with college (or his inability to finish it). This kind of thinking is the reason why Metal has never hit the mainstream, and why Rock n Roll has an audience limited to middle aged accountants who long for “the old days”.

For hip hop to grow up and become a truly global phenomenon that the majority can embrace, these kind of prejudices need to go. Race, your income level, your education level shouldn’t be detriments to pursuing hip hop. Eminem is white; he’s also the finest rapper since the mid 90′s.

The world is changing. The key word today is diversity. In 50 years, America will have a white minority, a majority of Hispanic and black people, along with Asian immigrants. To cope up with these changes, music has to evolve too, as does hip hop.

Only time will tell if hip hop has matured enough to appreciate this globalization.

Jamie Foxx will be hosting the awards, which isn’t something I’m looking forward to honestly.

However, there should be a few good performances, notably those by Beyonce, Young Jeezy, Kanye, and…Soulja Boy! (no…!!!)

But there will also be a performance by Jay-Z, which should be worth the entire show by itself.

Along with that will be the usual mumbo jumbo reserved for award shows. Tune in for the performances, or if your favorite guy/gal is up for an award, then tune out and find yourself a better way to spend 3 hours.

I love Cracked – its my favorite online humor magazine (since MAD has no online presence whatsoever), and I love Kanye – retarded though he might be.

Cracked thinks Kanye is retarded, which isn’t too far from the truth. The scenarios made possible by a retarded Kanye are absolutely hilarious, and most likely, highly probable.

I’ll be honest. I love Kanye’s music. His albums have been some of the finest of this decade. Its his ego that I can’t digest.

Now Kanye’s “book”, titled “Thank You And You’re Welcome” will be launched in July.

The book contains Kanye’s philosophy, most of which involves using the first person plural to address himself (“We”), and also the use of the phrase “get used to being used”.

Here’s one advice: don’t buy this book. If, God forbid, it ends up on the NYTimes bestseller list, we’ll all have to endure another decade of Kanye’s douchebaggery.
