He was apparently called ‘Puff’ to reflect his ‘huff and puff’ mood when he got upset.

In 2001, after a weapons and bribery charge, he changed his name from ‘Puff Daddy’ to ‘P.Diddy’. In 2005, he changed it again from ‘P.Diddy’ to just ‘Diddy’.

Unfortunately, he was unable to use the name Diddy in the UK where he is still known as P.Diddy.

For his non-musical interests, such as acting, he uses his real name Sean Combs or ‘Sean John’ for his clothing lines.

Apparently, the rapper T (hyphen) Pain launched into an attack on Jay (hyphen) Z at a night club in Vegas during a deejay set.

As per tweets made by rapper Fabolous, the forever auto-tuned rapper, T-Pain was at the club Rehab in Vegas when he said, “fuck Jay-Z” and had a few more choice words for the Hard Knock Life rapper, which included the indication that Jay-Z was “old”.

Who in here wants to believe that this is just a result of the D.O.A – Death of Auto Tune – by Jay-Z? T-Pain has been known to make a throw in *cough* a *cough* few auto-tuned tracks in his albums. If refusing to use a shitty piece of software for fine tuning your voice makes you old, then I’m glad the is old and not resorting to such shit musical tactics.

Oh, and the kicker? The deejay at the club immediately launched into a number of Jay-Z hits as soon as T-Pain got finished with his rants, including, but not limited to D.O.A., Run This Town, etc. etc.

According to the New York Hudson Journal, a police search inside rapper Jadakiss house led to the recovery of 6 grams of marijuana, 5 grams of heroin and approximately $42,00 in cash.

The rapper’s leased apartment in Yonkers, New York was searched after a suspect, Gabriel Henriquez was found to have been living in one of the rooms in Jadakiss’ apartment. Henriquez was wanted for the possession of a controlled substance, along with second degree assault.

My take on this is that this is nothing actually surprising. Rappers smoke up. So did my roommate in college. It’s high time that marijuana possession was decriminalized anyway.

The heroin, however, is an issue. A drug as harmful as heroin cannot be condoned; its posession should be illegal and those found with large quantities of it ought to be prosecuted.

According to the New York Post, 50 Cent is to planning on performing a free show near the Queens project where he grew up, as a kind gesture from the artist.

Parents from the surrounding community, however, are worried that things might get ugly. 50 performing in his old neighborhood is bound to stir up some emotions – most of all jealousy, and revenge – and suspect that there might be shootings or other violent crime.

Others, you can be sure, are choosing to stay away because of some absurd fear of 50 Cent’s lyrial content (which, we presume, their kids have already heard a 100 times on the internet).

Nevertheless, it could definitely turn ugly. Estimates indicate that over 10,000 people might show up for the free concert which would be a logistical and security nightmare for the local law enforcement agencies.

What do you say: should 50 forgo the concert out of concern for the safety of his audience, or should he move the concert elsewhere, or preferably, make it a paid concert to discourage trouble-makers (and keep the kids out)?

Rapper Will.I.Am of the Black Eyed Peas (of the “MY HUMPS” fame..lol) is considering a job in the White House, following in the footsteps of actor Kal Penn (the Kumar in “Harold and Kumar“) who took a job as the Associate Director of the White House Office of Public Liaison. Will.I.Am, it must be remembered, campaigned extensively for Prez Obama during the elections last year.

Back in 08 when Lyfe Jennings released the album “Lyfe Change”, it sent millions of men across the globe into cringe-inducing seizures.

I’m damn sure Lyfe’s mother named him “Lyfe” only so that one day, as a serious, responsible adult, he could talk about “Life Change”, but only spell it with a ‘Y’ (wait…Lyfe’s mother actually gave him the perfectly sensible ‘Chester’ as his first name…but Chester obviously wasn’t cringe worthy enough…)

Sean Connery Knows Bling.

This is kinda like the James Bond movie in which they named the Bond girl ‘Christmas’ only to let Connery say the awesome cringe-worthy one liner, “But I though Christmas comes only once an year….”

Get it? That’s hilarious, right?

But seriously, what propels decent, down to earth, hard working musicians (ahem, ahem…) to name their creations for the single sole purpose of making all their acquaintances grind their teeth in a spectacular cringe attack?

There’s Bono who named his kid after the awesome boning session he had in Memphis at 6 in the evening on a cold winter day sometime in the last decade (i.e., “Memphis Eve“). Then there’s Michael Jackson with his “Blanket“, but since he’s Michael Jackson, he’s forgiven all instances of out and out weirdness.

Then there are musician names themselves, and nobody is more guilty of this than rappers. You know the rappers Cunninlynguists? You don’t, I know.

Why?

Because that’s the biggest “Get it? See? See? Ha ha ha..eer..its funny, right?” name we could think of.

Reminds me of another Bond movie joke…the ever flirtatious Ms. MoneyPenny (that receptionist/secretary who never really seems to do any actual work, and has another atrocious name) tells Bond, “Oh, you were always a cunning linguist“.

How cringe-worthy is that?

Seriously, this is like the only picture we can ever find of him.

Then there’s Eminem. Not exactly super cringe worthy, but when you’re named after a sweet, chocolate filled candy, you’re much better off writing songs for Disney.

I can count off by the dozens: Rhymefest, which sounds more like a hippie poetry reading festival than a rapper name; Messy Marv, which is probably something his mother called him as a baby when he pooped all over the diaper; Timbaland, which sounds like a redneck community of lumberjacks…

Then there’s, of course, “Lyfe” Jennings and his compatriot, Usher.
