He definitely makes some bold statements in the posting, although it could be a little easier to read – what’s with the CAPS.

Here’s the full text from the posting in case you can’t read it from the image.

FIRST OF ALL, I WANT TO THANK EVERYBODY FOR THEIR CONSTANT LOVE AND SUPPORT OVER THESE PAST 6 YEARS! I’M SO HAPPY TO BE BACK IN THE STUDIO MAKING NEW MUSIC. I WILL BRING YOU THE BEST I HAVE TO OFFER WITH THE SAME DEDICATION THAT KOBE HAS ON THE COURT. IT’S FUNNY HOW SO MANY RAPPERS GET WORSE AS THEIR CAREERS STRETCH OUT BUT TRUE POETS GET BETTER. WE WILL FOLLOW IN THE FOOTSTEPS OF MAYA ANGELOU, GILL SCOTT HERRON AND NINA SIMONE. THEIR WORK IMPROVED WITH TIME. THEY DOCUMENTED WHAT WAS HAPPENING IN CULTURE. THAT IS OUR RESPONSIBILITY AS THE MODERN DAY ARTISTS AND POETS, TO ACCURATELY REPRESENT WHAT IS HAPPENING NOW, SO THAT WHEN THE POWERS THAT BE TRY TO REWRITE HISTORY YOU CAN ALWAYS LOOK AT OUR WORKS AND FIND TRUTH AND SINCERITY IN A WORLD OF PROCESSED INFORMATION. LET US SOAK IN POSITIVE FORCES AND LOOK DOWN ON UPON THOSE WHO MASQUERADE AS TRUTH TELLERS AND OBJECTIVE FACT GIVERS WHEN IN FEALITY EVERYTHING THAT IS PROJECTED HAS AN AGENDA OF BRAINSTORMING US, THE “CONSUMER”, THE PUBLIC, TO BELIEVE WHAT THEY WANT US TO. LET US LOOK PAST HEADLINES AND DEAL WITH JUST A BIT OF REALITY IN THIS NEW DECADE. WE WILL HAVE OUR OWN OUTLETS NOW. WE DON’T HAVE TO BELIEVE EVERYTHING ANYMORE. NOW I’LL FIGURE OUT A WAY TO MAKE THAT RHYME LOL!!!

Anyone care to give Kanye West a hand in making that ryhme?

Most of you will know that the hip-hop mogul Sean “Diddy” Combs started out as the rapper “Puff Daddy” when he recorded his first commercial vocal in 1997 but do you know why he changed his stage name?

He was apparently called ‘Puff’ to reflect his ‘huff and puff’ mood when he got upset.

In 2001, after a weapons and bribery charge, he changed his name from ‘Puff Daddy’ to ‘P.Diddy’. In 2005, he changed it again from ‘P.Diddy’ to just ‘Diddy’.

Unfortunately, he was unable to use the name Diddy in the UK where he is still known as P.Diddy.

For his non-musical interests, such as acting, he uses his real name Sean Combs or ‘Sean John’ for his clothing lines.

His birth name is Sean John Combs.

Sure, there are plenty of rappers who have become quasi famous on less than stellar rhyming skills, but these guys get little respect or success. The best rappers out there (Jay-Z, Eminem, Tupac, 50 Cent, etc.) [...]

Rap is about rhyming. Period. If you can’t string together a few solid rhymes, you can’t be a rapper. Sure, there are plenty of rappers who have become quasi famous on less than stellar rhyming skills, but these guys get little respect or success. The best rappers out there (Jay-Z, Eminem, Tupac, 50 Cent, etc.) all have killer rhyming skills.

Thus, when aspiring rappers talk about getting rap dictionaries to make rhyming a bit “easier”, I naturally balk. A rap dictionary is literally ‘cheating’ in my book. It kills the very soul of the music. It says, “I have no skills or interest in working hard to be a rapper. I just want a quick fix solution that will make me semi-famous”. Such a hack mentality can’t take you very far in the rap game.

Of course, I’m not saying that you need not consult a dictionary at all. A strong vocabulary is, after all, a cornerstone of rap. But for that, I would really recommend a regular dictionary over a rap dictionary. This is for the reason mentioned above, and because rap dictionaries tend to be very genre specific and lack the killer words that can make or break a song.

Most importantly, if you follow the rap dictionary too closely, you will start sounding like the hundreds of other rappers who took the advice of the dictionary. Instead of sounding original and fresh, you will sound like another soldier in an army of rapping clones. Surely you don’t want such a reputation to be associated with you or your art.

The best rhymes involve words that are complicated and are not commonly found in most rap dictionaries. Longer words with more syllables make for great rhymes, but are unfortunately missing in such dictionaries.

Try this out: pick up a dictionary (a regular one) and write down a dozen words you have never even heard before, let alone know the meaning of. Make sure that they are multiple syllable words such as “megalomaniac” or “metamorphosis“. Try to find ryhmes for these words and include them in your song. You will be surprised how the includsion of a few such words can make your song stand out completely.

Lil Wayne is one of the most popular rappers among fans and MCs alike. He’s one of the largest selling, most talented artists around and has sold millions and millions of albums. Like any of the top artists such as Jay-Z, Eminem or Kanye, Lil Wayne has a very unique rapping style that can be instantly recognized. For obvious reasons, a lot of aspiring rappers want to be able to rap like him.

To rap like Lil Wayne, you’ll first have to learn to recreate his Southern drawl. If you listen to his tapes closely, you’ll notice how he stretches his syllables. Instead of saying “ya all”, he’ll say “ya aaalll”, putting emphasis on the last syllables. His rhymes often tend to get stretched over the beats.

A key aspect of Lil Wayne rapping style is his vocals. While some rappers like Eminem have great lyrics, some amazing production skills (like Kanye), and some have great flow (Jay-Z, Andre 3000), Lil Wayne has great control over his voice. As a rapper, you are not expected to have the strong vocals of an R&B crooner, but to rap like Lil Wayne, you’ll have to strengthen your vocals.

The easiest way to strengthen your vocals is to perform some vocal exercises that are designed specifically for rappers and not classically trained singers. First, stretch your vocal chords by opening your mouth wide as if you are yawning. Do this 5 times in a row, slowly.

To really get the Lil Wayne sound, you want to add strength and power to your voice. To do this, practice your resonance by humming from below the navel. Your voice should feel as if it is coming from your gut, deep, resonating and powerful. Of course, this is easier said than done and can be very difficult to achieve, particularly while rapping. But if you really want to be able to rap like Lil Wayne, this is an essential step to building the power and strength that Wayne has in his voice.

If you are reading this, chances are, you are either a rapper, or aspiring to become one.

A lot of people make the mistake of thinking that rapping is easy (which it is not). The flow and rhythm involved in rapping can take years to master, and that too if you have the aptitude or the talent for it.

Nevertheless, these are 5 tips every aspiring rapper should keep in mind:

1. Become acquainted with all rap styles: East Coast, West Coast, South. Listen carefully to rappers from with different styles and note their rhythm, flow and lyrical structures. A good ear for different rap styles is probably the number one thing you can have to be a good rapper, and will eventually help you create your own individual style.

2. Invest in a dictionary. While this may not sound very “hip hop”, but a strong vocabulary can really set you apart from dozens of other aspiring rappers. If you don’t know a word, look it up, and learn to use it in appropriate situations. Cleverly rhymed words that depart from the norm are the best weapons in the arsenal of any rapper.

3. Don’t be very strict about your song structure. You don’t have to start from verse to chorus to verse and so on. Experiment with different writing styles, and let the tune come to you naturally in whatever order it appears. If you get the chorus before the verse, or the outro before the chorus, don’t worry about it; the song structure can always be modified and tweaked later on.

4. Record yourself rapping as often as you can. This is the best form of feedback you can get. How you sound in person may be very different from what you sound like in your records.

5. Practice your timing. Rap is all about rhythm, flow and timing. Note how rappers like Eminem will accentuate the the lyric at the end of a beat. Little tricks like this make all the difference and really sets you apart from the crowd. Get a few beats (or make your own) and practice rapping to it using any random words that pop into your mind (it doesn’t have to sound good or professional), varying your timing to see what sounds the best.

The UK, despite perceptions in the United States, has a large and very popular rap scene with some very talented artists who’ve put out some fabulous records over the years.

In the UK, urban music has long been dominated by hip hop and grime artists, who’ve consistently taken the top spots in the UK charts consistently over the years. While hip hop artists aren’t quite as big in the UK as they are in the US, there are still names that are known nationwide.

So if you are interested in knowing more about hip hop from the United States, I suggest that you check out these artists:

1. Chipmunk

This UK rapper’s real name is Jahamaal Fyffe, but he chose the more pronounceable (and slightly ridiculous) stage moniker of Chipmunk. Chipmunk won the best UK newcomer at the MOBO awards in 2008. His new album, “I Am a Chipmunk” is dropping this November and has built up a lot of hype. While he is a newcomer, his style has already won him a lot of fans and is definitely one artist worth checking out.

2. Bashy

Real name Ashley Thomas, he sometimes also goes by the stage name “Twat”. He released his debut solo album in Jan 09. Previously won acclaim for the controversial track “Black Boys“.

3. Wiley

Wiley is a MC and producer whose real name is Richard Kylea Cowie. He is well known as being one of the pioneers of the sub-genre of Grime. Also well known as one of the founders of the Roll Deep Crew. Wiley found mainstream success with the single “Wear My Rolex” released in 2008.

4. N-Dubz

A MOBO (Music of Black Origin) award winning hip hop trio comprising of Dino “Dappy” Contostavlos, Tula “Tulisa” Contostavlos, and Richard “Fazer” Rawson hit the UK charts with their debut album, “Uncle B“, which was certified platinum. They have been going strong consistently after hitting the mainstream.

5. Ghetts

Ghetts real name is Justin Jude Clarke Samuel. This East London rapper is one of the pioneers of Grime and has received a lot of mainstream coverage. His debut album will be released in 2009, named “Rebel With a Cause” after winning a lot of fans with his underground mixtapes.

If you want to set yourself apart from the crowded field of rappers, hip hop artists and other aspiring performers you have to make good music. It has to have a solid structure. It has to seize the subconscious of its listeners and remain there after they are done listening. In order to accomplish this, you need killer rap beats.

In an industry where the beat rules, you can not afford to grab just any old hip hop instrumentals, rap beats or r & b instrumentals. You need pro beats. There are online services that can provide you with that major label sound. Make sure what they offer is a expert sound. You need professional beats.

Realize from the beginning you need to have a firm grasp of what beats are and which hip hop beats you need. It has to transport you and your audience. If it fails to do this, it will be of no benefit.

Initially, you will probably need to experiment. This means downloading a variety of hot new and old beats. Select from a variety of different types, musically and stylistically. Simple, sometimes is more effective, particularly in rap or hip hop. The question is what approach or style do you require.

Are you into west or east coast styles of Rap? Is your approach to be R & B-based or jazz in flavor? The genres do blend and there are multiple subgenres, but it is important you select according to your own recognizable personality. Be sure before you start messing with the beats, you know your personal musical style. Your beats need to reflect this aspect. In this way, you can keep it real.

Yet, there are other dynamics to consider. You have to marry the beat to several other factors. These include the nature of the lyrics or words you plan to use, the requirements of the audience and the marketability or not, of the overall composition. If you cant find the beat to fill these needs, you wont be able to lay down the music on tape or live. It is all about everyone identifying with and claiming the beat.

Once you have resolved the factors and arrived at a decision, begin the process of putting together a complete musical package. Do not download and use just any hot beat. Select them according to your own, newly established criteria. The result will help you blow your audiences away.

The final piece of the puzzle is practice. You need to perfect your music, hone your skills. Take the beat and work it. Rearrange it when necessary and transpose it from section to section to make it work. Structure and restructure it. Test it canned and test it live. Be prepared, even when it works, to go back over it again. Working that much harder will help give you an edge over the competition. By continuously working on improving your sound, your persona and your craft, you will stand apart from others with the same goals a place in the music world.

There is no better way to develop as a artist than by purchasing hot sounding rap beats and hip hop beats instrumentals – after all the major artist all buy beats for a reason as well and understand the importance of great hip hop beats and rap beats.
