I stumbled upon this site today by accident: UnderstandRap.com.

Its a site dedicated to deciphering the slangs in hip hop, and its absolutely hilarious. This is what happens when Grandpa decides he wants to know what exactly the heck Ice-T is singing about on “99 Problems”.

Anyway, I think such a site/service was sorely needed. Remember that rap has fans throughout the world, many of whom aren’t aware of hip hop slang, and sometimes don’t even have English as their first language. Perhaps sites like UnderstandRap.com will help them decipher rap song meanings and in turn, help artists sell a few more albums. Its super lame, but its also necessary.
